We Are Young

I don’t post videos a lot as a general rule of SlickLaRoo Social Media. Why, you ask? Look, I know vlogs and funny YouTube vids are like, THE thing, but I don’t watch most of the videos that my social media friends post, so why would I ask them to watch what I post? I didn’t know abou the double rainbow guy until he made it on Leno. I didn’t watch Rebecca Black’s Friday video until like, the following Thursday. And I just learned yesterday that there are cat videos all over the internet. I know, late to the game.
However, as long as SOPA is stopped, I suppose I should exercise my right of free posting (or whatever that is…free speech?).
So back to my orginal point at hand. We Are Young. The video below is the music video for the song We Are Young by Fun.. Yes, I said Fun.. As in the name of the band is Fun. with a period to show you how serious they are about having Fun. Hah. Anyway.
My friend Jenny introduced me to this song. The first time I heard it I got chills and put it on repeat until I knew all the words. It’s not some deep song, the chorus just happened to resonate with me. I think whether you’re 29 years young or 80, there’s meaning.
Tonight
We are young
So let’s set the world on fire
We can burn brighter
Than the sun
Like I said, no real profound truth. However, to all my friends thinking we’re OLD at 30 minus 1, we’re NOT. While life is short, young is also a state of mind. So take that you cliché and needlepoint it on a pillow! (I don’t think that will quite catch on like “put that in your pipe and smoke it.”)
I will say, upon closer inspection, I think the song is about getting back with your ex…or perhaps a booty call with your ex…I am not really sure. But I am going to exercise artist license and enjoy this song for what it is to me: my new anthem on being young. I’m gonna burn brighter than the sun…
(Ps have you noticed this song is in the new Chevy Volt commercial? Psh. I love hearing it any chance I get!!!)

I love this song, too! Wayne put it on the mix cd he made me a few weeks ago and I have jamming to it ever since. I noticed it on the commercial in the Superbowl, too.
